Oakland’s Finest – My Favorite Bakery! Sweet Adeline

Oakland has no shortage of sweet spots, bakeries, cupcake shops, cookie stores and more, but when it comes to treats Sweet Adeline truly does take the cake. It is a narrow and lean bakery – one too many slices of apple pie and you’ll have to straddle in sideways to the bathroom. It’s that narrow. Lined seating one row deep with the hustle and bustle of a full fledged bakery which it is.

It’s a-typical for the area – those strange hours, closes a little too early to stop in for dessert after dinner and closed on Mondays I believe when my sweet tooth always kicks in super hard. It’s just how it goes I suppose. The snickerdoodle is a sweet caboodle for my cravings. The tiramisu pulls you in to Venice for a few sweet seconds while the chocolate pie sends you over the moon. It’s my favorite dessert. Well at this spot at least. Sweet Adeline will have you singing, “Oh Carolina,” in no time. But yeah I digress, the chocolate pie is truly out of this world and a fan favorite. Ok I guess I’m fan girling-again! Is that a word? I’m not sure, but WORD to that chocolate pie. It’ll be worth the drive. At that funny criss crossy corner of Shattuck and yep – Adeline.
