Spiritual nourishment and the longing for it might just be the one thing all humans crave and have in common. Even though we’ve come up with hundreds of different names for this one thing it essentially is all the same. We all are full of longing inside. Our soul longs for something. We long for soul fulfillment. Regardless of how we search and seek and make various attempts at fulfillment we are all after nourishment of our souls in some capacity. In essence feeding our soul is feeding that deeper part of us, it’s that spiritual side that is looking for depth and meaning through the chaos. It’s that part of us that longs for something, that wants more or hopes and wishes. That is our soul’s longing. It is the essence of who we are and it is our nature to long for or desire some deeper sense of knowing, understanding, nourishing. We spend so much time focused on or pointing out our differences instead of seeing our similarities. There is a deepening of human consciousness, an awakening that happens when we focus on the similarities between us. When we come together in unity there is a profound depth of awareness and oneness that fills our souls. We are all the same. We are all in this together and we all want the same thing. We all are looking for some sense of fulfillment on a deeper level. We’re looking for what I like to call spiritual nourishment. We might take up meditation, or prayer, surfing, or the temple, or rock climbing. It’s our soul’s need for more, something substantive that leads us to the ashram, the church or the ocean. Many people turn to organized religion in search of it, while others turn to nature. Many turn to others in search of a deeper truth, but regardless of where we turn or how we go about finding and fulfilling that part of us, it’s nourishment on a soul level we are craving and seeking. And this I’ve found really is the one thing we all do have in common. We all want it, need it and crave it. We want meaning. Understanding. We want it to all make sense. It’s human nature at it’s most visceral.Watch here Poet Mark Nepo share his insights on “How To Fulfill Your Greatest Desire”
