Is all of this tech getting the best of us? Mo’ Money Mo Problems? Too much technology might just be the root of all evil today. While I’ve been a bit of a tech junkie on and off myself and have a hard time breaking free of my MacBook Pro every now and then, I do have my away time. I ensure the off time, for me time. I make sure I have moments, several of them or blocks of my day that are not tech related, tech dependent, tech necessary. It’s an essential part of my daily routine to step away from all of the technology. Whether this means I’m hitting a trail, doing Reiki, reading a book, not an ebook, or kindle book, but an actual physical, touch me, feel me, see me, flip my pages book.As marvelous as it is, the technological advances and strides man has made, it is a bit too much and has created a disenfranchised world which texts instead of calls. We email instead of write and snail mail. We snapchat instead of real chat. We tweet instead of “reach out and touch someone” over the phone to share some in the moment exciting hap. We log ourselves into Facebook and update our status instead of updating our family and friends. We might be a little too teched out, don’t you think? While I admire the teens and tweens of today, I’m always a little sad for them. How it must be to not have lived in a tech free world where you just rode your bike around all day and actually had to come up with creative ways to entertain ourselves, like pitching rocks in the pond, swinging on the swings and playing hide and go seek. Yes I’m of that era and yes it was truly awesome. I was a kid, a real kid. I was young and naive and not tainted by all this tech. I picked up the phone and called friends and had to be stationary cause the phone was actually attached to the wall. Cordless phones were a big hit and set us off in search of even greener pastures. Of course, next came cell phones. I remember having a pager when I first got out of high school. Even that was so cool. I felt like a boss with that pager. Technology was in full swing and we were getting hooked, becoming addicts one little gadget at a time. It’s like that drug. You start with small doses. One little hit at a time. And before you know it you’re a full fledged addict. Little did we know we’d be here. Lifeless with out all of this technology some day. What a pity? A shame indeed we can’t just live and be without the mighty T.
