Lunch At The Fat Lady In Oakland

Fat Lady

It’s no mystery that the Bay Area is a dining hub with exceptional cuisine and really famous institutions, staples that have stood the test of time. There are always new restaurants coming and going and while some of them last – it’s hard to keep up with the pace in a foodie’s paradise like Oakland. You have your Yoshi’s, Wood Tavern, Le Cheval, Girabaldi’s (Gone) – now A-16, Chop Burger, Farmhouse Kitchen, even B-Star, Hawking Bird, Bakesale Betty and yeah that list goes on and on and on.

I mention these cause they are staples let’s just say – that have seemingly seen neighbors with hopes of cementing institutional status wash away like dreams of yesteryear.

I’m talking about the Fat Lady not because of the exceptional food, it’s good and of course I wouldn’t go here if it was bad, but because of the ambiance. Now this place has got this down to a tee.

It has the potential of transporting you to a lower Manhattan hob nob supper club right here in the bay. It’s cute, it’s quaint, it’s charming and the lighting – oh my – that’s what I love about this place. The lighting is pure perfection. It enhances not only the dinner plate, but the bronzer on my cheeks even gets a little extra shimmer here.
