Learning to Give Without Expectation
Sue Dhillon is an Indian American writer, journalist, and trainer.
Life is so full of surprises. I could have never predicted the outcome of so much in my life.
While I have done things from a place of higher awareness, many of my efforts have been met with opposition, or with others acting from lower quadrants. Perhaps the lesson in this is the pain and acknowledgment of taking the high road with little dividends.
When the High Road Feels Unrewarded
Perhaps the even greater lesson is expecting no dividends at all.
It is a lesson in selflessness and compassion to do good with little to no reciprocity. That is the lesson when our higher selves offer themselves to the world from a place of love and consideration. Selflessness abounds in this understanding.
Compassion as a Path to Growth
The more I operate from a place of compassion, the more I see helping others or offering myself as a valuable platform for my own soul growth. It truly is all a matter of perspective.
While I may receive no direct reciprocation in loving, there is a deeper alchemical process taking place within me that ultimately makes me better, wiser, stronger, more selfless, and more compassionate.
This, in and of itself, is a gift.
Freedom From Expectation
I am free of hoping for returns.
I am free of waiting for acknowledgment.
I am free to move through each action with grace, rooted in a quiet knowing and pure consciousness.
Life, Karma, and the Unfair Hand
We plan for things, but it is the nature of life, our karmic lessons, and the tragedy of being human that we will be dealt an unfair hand.
Who among us holds a truly fair and hearty one?
Please allow me to greet the soul who is free of the burdens of physical life on this earthly realm, this strange and at times painfully awkward plane.
Why the Lows Matter
How would we experience soul evolution without the downs?
While the ups are wonderful, I believe most people who are granted extreme highs are not afforded the depth of revelation that comes with extreme lows.
I know that prior to some of my greatest lows, there were many highs I had taken for granted.
It is the nature of the cosmic universe and our soul’s evolutionary process that only through the lowest of lows do we come to recognize the true and treasured joy of abundant highs.
